At the end of the day, give tired feet a real treat- soak them in a soothing footbath. Relaxing the feet can have a calming effect on the whole body. Soothing Footbath 1 tablespoon sea salt 2 drops lavender essential oil 1 drop rosemary essential oil 1 drop bay essential oil 1 drop geranium essential oil rose petals (optional) You will need a large basin or wide-bottomed bowl and a bath towel. Fill the basin with enough warm water to cover feet. Stir the sea salt into the warm water until it dissolves (use your toes to stir, if you wish). Add the essential oils, mixing them well. For a little luxury and a pleasant aroma, float scented rose petals on the surface of your soothing footbath. Soak your feet in the basin for about 10 minutes, or until the water has cooled. Pat your feet dry with towel. Finish with Eucalyptus Foot Lotion, Taking time to massage the toes well. Foot Care For all-day comfort, it's important to take special care of your feet. Hardened skin around the heels and odor from perspiration are common problems. You can minimize their effects with a few easy steps. To deodorize shoes, sprinkle the insides with a small amount of powdered chamomile every day, brushing the powder out before wearing. Another trick is to fill a spare pair of socks with a mixture of coarsely crushed dried herbs and spices - any combination of rosemary, bay leaves, cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, orange peel, lemon peel, thyme, lavender, and pine needles. Tie the socks at the top and leave them in the shoes between wearing. For a gift, fill a new pair of socks with the mixture and tie with ribbons. To soften hard skin on the soles of your feet or the backs of your heels, massage in equal quantities of olive oil and apple cider vinegar. Treat fungal infections between your toes with applications of cider vinegar diluted with an equal amount of water over the affected area. Or use a fungicide made by diluting 2 drops tea tree essential oil with 1/2 teaspoons water. For a quick foot treatment, when you don't have time for a soothing footbath, rub your feet with a mixture of apple cider vinegar and water in equal amounts. Or you can massage 1 to 2 drops rosemary essential oil diffused in a teaspoonful of vegetable oil onto your feet for 5 minutes before you take your bath Pedicure Gift Basket Idea For complete spa quality foot care, fill a Basket with a bottle of homemade soothing footbath, eucalyptus foot lotion, leg massage cream, wooden foot roller, reflexology card or book, fancy slippers and a pedicure set.
